Shopify's research defines a 'thriving' type of business or seller as one where founders are above average in their satisfaction with business performance (38%) and above average in their future optimism.
The types of sellers that will continue to grow in 2021 are :
3. Sellers who sell both B2B and B2C
62% of surveyed sellers who sell both B2B and B2C are satisfied with their business performance in 2020, while only 53% of B2C-only sellers are satisfied with their business in 2020.
Businesses doing both B2B and B2C are mainly in the food and beverage sector, at 53%. Furthermore, 24% of companies doing both B2B and B2C said they plan to expand into new product areas in the near future.
With many brick-and-mortar shops closing and logistics clogging up during the 2021 epidemic, attracting new buyers and getting products into their hands is becoming increasingly challenging. And those businesses that can leverage multiple models from the channel to attract buyers have a greater potential to be profitable this year.
For example, a brand that sells handmade skincare products wholesale and may see a decline in B2B business due to partner shop closures could sell B2C through an online shop or platform, not only to clear inventory but also to expand product coverage.
If a seller wants to expand their business and was originally B2B or B2C only, then they can do both B2B and B2C sales. The following are products that sellers can sell wholesale as well as retail.
-Fitness equipment, such as stretch bands and yoga mats.
-Home décor products, such as carpets and furniture.
Although the global economic outlook for 2021 remains grim, there are still opportunities for some businesses to thrive. It is often said IN China that when you stand in the wind, pigs can fly. Are you ready for the new wind of cross-border e-commerce?
