SEO ranking issues are related to poor optimization efforts (for example, bad content) and not to Shopify (or other tools). Despite the following shortcomings, I would say that Shopify's SEOis very good and intuitive. For example, it is very easy to customize mostof your SEO parameters (such as title tags, descriptions, tags, etc.). I really like the redirection system they have. When you change theURL, Shopify will automatically create an optional redirect from the old URL tothe new URL-so you don't get a 404 error.
Shopify hassome SEO disadvantages that you should be aware of:
The Shopify URL structure is not 100% customizable. For example, the URL of the product page will always contain "/products/"-itcannot be changed.
Shopify automatically generates Robots.txt file, unfortunately youcannot customize it.
Shopify is not easy to create subcategories, which may be an SEO painfor some people.
Although you can easily create non-ecommerce content, it may berestricted (for example, you cannot add widgets or maps). Sometimes, youmay need more (content) flexibility to support your overall SEO strategy.
